With the stroke of a pen Judge Scott Sirk officially filed as a Republican candidate for Hancock Circuit Court Judge. With the retirement last fall of Circuit Court Judge Richard Culver, Governor Eric Holcomb appointed Judge Sirk to fill that vacancy through the remainder of the term which expires at the end of 2018. The Governor’s selection process was thorough. The field of hopefuls were interviewed, background checks were done, and their legal backgrounds and experience were scrutinized. Judge Sirk easily rose to the top.
Judge Sirk’s legal career has centered in Hancock County for 28 years. He has been in private practice, been a prosecutor, a public defender, and more recently for the past eight years has served the Hancock County Judges as the full-time Judge Commissioner. Judge Sirk’s vast legal experience is critical for the complex cases that come before the Circuit Court. The Court has experienced a seamless transition with the appointment of Judge Sirk.
In the coming months Judge Sirk looks forward to meeting Hancock County constituents and discussing the Court’s challenges with them.
